Embrace change. Some may argue that in these complex times fundamental topics such as climate change, gender equality, income equality and social stability need to be “services” rendered by governments and organizations. Some may say that change comes from cautious actions of concerned individuals. Some might argue, that in order to see fundamental change within the foreseeable future we need to leave everything to IT based automatization. Others may say that the foundation of fundamental change is a complete renunciation of the ways we as mankind propagated for the last whatsoever amount of years. What I fundamentally contradict is arguments, that imply that change is driven by abstinence. I suggest finding a rather positive, tech-driven narrative that focuses on peoples’ wants in order to achieve sustainable change. Rather than promoting speed limits to achieve minimal CO2 reductions one should envision a safe, self-driving car that makes 300kph, flies and absorbs CO2 along the way... Apart from abstinence I think that all of the above are highly relevant parts of the equation, the constant conflict between competing and oftentimes colliding concepts to solve above issues in itself is fascinating. I firmly believe that the homogenization of these concepts within this highly relevant decade is crucial and the developing compromise will be the fabric out of which a contemporary cultural and societal framework in which humanity prospers will be woven. One thing which I’m completely certain of is that this framework will include massive technological enhancements in form of or fueled by intelligent physical things, propper strategic solutions and design to visualize and make enhancements tangible. These three will also be the driving force behind innovational impact. In many cases impactful innovation is still very much a subcultural phenomenon (although it finds massive attention by large corporations, organizations and governments), which is influenced by (amongst many) contemporary youth culture, environmental movements, startup culture, contemporary art and design, garage innovators and the maker movement. Again, lots of interlinking and oftentimes colliding movements, phenomenons and concepts that one day may be consolidated by trustful entities. I think that brands will play a significant role in this respect. As peoples' trust is tending to move away from governments and towards brands which practice goal-oriented corporate citizenship openly, brands need to decide whether they want to play an active role or remain inactive with the implied risk of becoming dull. I strongly advise brands to play an active role within the upcoming transformation of business. I've had the unique fortune to be and have been immersed in transformational (innovation / business) processes throughout my career and especially at Tatcraft and I’m honored to partake in coming experiences that maybe someday lead to the above mentioned cultural and societal framework.

History
Hardware is hard. Back in 2015 when Fabian (one of the founders) still worked as a Private Equity Manager, he got into contact with the upcoming Internet of Things and Smart product market and quickly found out, that early stage startups as well as SME’s where having a hard time to bring smart, intelligently connected and well designed Products to market. As to his analysis established mindsets (rather less agile) and the complexity of the hardware-prototyping-process (highly fragmented) where major reasons for struggeling. Therefore Tatcraft as a physical space in Frankfurt has been found in 2016 by Fabian and Tim for the purpose of democratizing the process of developing and producing (intelligent) physical things. A space, heavily equipped with high (and low) tech machinery and workshop infrastructure which encourages enthusiasts, product developers, designers, startups and established companies to create prototypes and produce small batches in agile manner and efficiently. The Tatcraft team quickly found out that this unique infrastructure as well as the processes that have been established, enabled Tatcraft to seek and reach bigger goals...
